Workshop with Kathy McNeil: Dynamics for EVERY Quilt Style
June 23, 9 am - 4 pm
Cost: Members: $55
Non-Members $75
Location of workshop:
Haxtun Commynity Center
125 East Wilson St.
Haxtun, CO
Design Dynamics for EVERY quilt style. Deepen your understanding of layout, design and fabric choices. Make the most of your contemporary or traditional quilts, by paying attention to color, value, shape, line and contrast.
Learn the secrets award winning quilters use to add movement, depth and balance to their compositions. The "Visual Impact" is the most important part of your quilt. Learn to use the language of design to help you analyze what works for you and others.
You do not need to be an artist to take this class. Bring traditional blocks or patterns that you want to work with, fabrics you are considering or a picture that inspires a quilt design.
You will have a new sense of confidence as we work together in this totally supportive environment to plan or enhance your new quilt.

Further east along the interstate lies the town of Sterling at intersection 125 where there is a quilt shop, Quilts-n-Creations, 970-522-0146 - also open Saturdays. Beyond Haxtun on Highway 6 in Imperial, Nebraska is Priors Quilts, 308-882-4354. Call Janet if you wish to be there after 3 pm.
East of Haxtun and south of Holyoke on Highway 385 you will find a feast for the eyes and soul in Wray, Colorado, because June 22 is their Quilt of the Plains Show where nearly 100 quilted items are exhibited outside along Main Street.
This will be their 13th show and it will include a small vendors' market, prizes for the favorite quilts, and a raffle quilt. The quilts will
hang from 9 am until 4 pm. More information can be found under the Wray Chamber webpage:
http://www.wraychamber.net/quiltsoftheplains.
Be sure to stop and visit
Rainbow Fabrics, 970-332-4343, which helps sponsor the show. Wray's second quilt shop, Granma's Treasures,
is also along Main Street, 970-332-5556. I know both of these shops will be open until the close of the quilt show.
For further details please call any of these shops, tour the Quilt of the Plains and then rest up for the workshop Sunday in Haxtun Contact Kathy at repzjr@plains.net or Pat at funkycow@haxtuntel.net for other local information.
