CQC History

The Colorado Quilting Council held its first gathering on July 29, 1978 at the Hiwan Homestead Museum in Evergreen. In a year’s time, as we return once again to the place of our beginning, the Council had grown from a casual group of women with a common interest, into an organization of very gifted fiber artists and craftswomen. Once a dream in the minds of a few who wished to preserve an art form with roots in our domestic heritage, the Colorado Quilting Council is a reality today with a desire to promote a professional attitude toward quilting in a spirit of our pioneer background. We look forward to the future with pride in our work and seek to spread an appreciation of this fine art.
