Colorado Quilting Council’s Fall Retreat will be held at Peaceful Valley Ranch in Lyons, Colorado. Peaceful
Valley is one of Colorado’s most popular ranches. Nestled high in the Rocky Mountains (8400 ft), it sits right on the St. Vrain River amid 800,000 acres of the Roosevelt National Forest. Although secluded, it is only 60 miles from Denver and easy to reach. The ranch also features an exercise room, swimming pool and beautiful fall hiking.

Our teacher, Bonnie Hunter, has been a guest lecturer of CQC in the past and her workshop, Cathedral Stars, promises to be fun, action packed and full of lots of opportunities to learn new techniques and how to bust that stash! In Bonnie’s words about this workshop, “I love two block quilts! Especially when you are playing with asymmetrical blocks, you can create diagonals, X's and when put on point, as the alternate block is in this quilt.....you get the illusion of columns floating behind the stars and checkerboards! This quilt was inspired by the beautiful colors in the stained glass windows of Trinity Cathedral in Columbia, SC. The sun shining through those windows is a sight to behold. The two blocks in this quilt are a modified "54-40 or Fight" star block, and a modified "Jacob's Ladder.”
